The big 50 milestone
So I had this cool idea to do something fancy for my 50th follower milestone because last weekend I was at 49, but then I came on yesterday and realised I was at 55. It seems a little anti-climactic now, but the fact that I’ve got OVER 50 followers seems a little surreal. It might not be a lot to some people, but that’s 55 people who took the time to peruse my page and thought it was worth coming back to. I can’t really say I write for you, since I’m pretty sure I’d be doing this even if I had no followers, but you make it a lot more interesting and worth while to keep posting!! So thank you!
The Author’s Table
I’m meeting Cassie Clare!! I am so excited! Waiting in line really got me thinking though how exciting it would be from an author’s perspective. The thought of all those people standing in line and they are waiting for your book, that would be such an honour! All those people who love your characters and your story as much as you do!! That’s my dream! My dream is to have people who fall in love with my stories 🙂 One day I’m going to be sitting at the author’s table!

Draft #3 & Book 2
It’s out in the world! Because I can’t be printing tons of copies I had to give my brother my copy so I no longer have a manuscript to obsessively edit anymore. This is good and bad. I’ve been editing to improve book 1, but also to avoid book 2. The thing about book 2 is it has to be better than book 1, or just as good and that feels like a lot of pressure. I’m also switching it up a bit and I’ll be writing from different POV’s and different characters in book 2 because of how book 1 ended. This is great for my readers because they will get to understand a bit about a certain character, but it also is really difficult for me because I’m no longer switching between two people. I found it hard enough to switch between me and Alice, but now I have to switch between me and 3 other characters. I need to get inside their heads. And no matter how much I’ve planned the story, that still doesn’t help me get into the head space of a specific character.
I have started chapter 2 because it’s Alice, and Alice is easier to write after book 1, I know her. I’m familiar with her reactions and her sentiments and her language, but Chapter 1 doesn’t start with Alice it starts with Dawson and even though I always had glimpses of Dawson’s mind in book 1, I never had a true understanding of him. His language is different, his whole demeanor and the way he feels vs the way he presents himself is different from Alice and nothing like how she interprets his actions. I know I can’t avoid it forever, but I feel like it’s going to take time to get into Dawson’s head and I honestly haven’t had time to sit down and really get into his character. I need to soul search Dawson and it’s going to take more than an hour after work to do it. Hell, sometimes it would take me half a day just to get inside Alice’s head.
I don’t really know where I’m going with this post. I ACTUALLY have a day off tomorrow so I’m hoping I can spend the day trying to get into Dawson’s head so I can really start book 2. I’m SO excited with where I have the story going. I just wrote out a whole bunch more plot concerning The Council that I’m super stoked about! I’ve got around 3 pages of outline and quickly jotted down scenes for book 2, I just need to sort it all and start writing!!

Editing, editing and more editing
I’ve been busy reading my book and editing. After marking up my first draft to near illegible proportions, I have started on draft #2. With the exception of chapters 1 & 2 this copy is much less marked up which makes me hopeful that I might one day reach a point of contentment. I’m sitting around the 67,500 word range. I know that’s a little short, but I haven’t felt the need to add stuff anywhere to make it longer, so I’ll just keep working on it. I’ve got a little feedback and it’s been very positive! My brother even said he could imagine it being a movie which I found VERY flattering! It’s good reception has given me hope that maybe it’s actually good enough to get published! I just need to find someone to give me a chance and read my manuscript!! Finding that one person willing to read it is the hardest part! For now I’ll wait to see what people think, I’ve sent it to 17 people and have heard from 4 so I’ve got a way to go yet.
Cheers!

Photoshop Fun
So I just spent the past 4 hours making a fake cover photo for my book. I think it looks pretty cool so I thought I’d share it. Now maybe I can actually get past the first sentence in Book 2. 😛

Dead To The World
I’ve been holed up for the past 12 days. But a lot of good as come of it, mainly my book. I’ve finally completed the first draft. I spent a really long time going through and editing it, and I gotta say there was a lot more pen marks than I thought, but I think it turned out pretty good. I’ve officially sent it off to some of my friends and hope to hear good things back!!
I also went shopping! I scored some pretty kick-ass deals including these awesome red skinny jeans and knee high converse!! It was love at first sight 😀
I hope to be back more regularly again, but life has been pretty hectic! I haven’t decided if I should start book 2 yet or not, but I figure it’ll come into place. Hope all is well with everyone and chat soon!

P.S. I’ve officially got a title for my first book and the series!! I’m pretty stoked!
January & February Highlights
So. today is March 1st and I started thinking the first 2 months of 2013 have already been ridiculously exciting. This year has been the most transformational year of my life so far and I still have 10 months to go! Here are some of the exciting things that have happened to me so far this year!
1) I FINALLY went on my honeymoon! Two weeks of beautiful, sunny and hot weather in Cancun, Mexico at a 5 star 5 diamond resort! Totally worth every penny spent!
2) I paid my 200$ deposit for my seat at University!
3) I started a blog! I finally let Alice loose into the world and this is an exciting prospect!
4) I also started twitter! Who knew the little 140 character tweets, as they are called, could be so much fun!
5) I started a book! Something I never dreamed possible in all my life. It’s almost finished too!
If this is what can happen already, I am excited to see what will happen throughout the rest of the year!! Here’s to pursuing your dreams and reaching for the stars because this year has definitely been like that for me!
